Always living

This little succulent, semper vivem, grows a small rosette for several years and then sends forth this gloriouscluster of little flowers on a long stalk. The flowers last for a week or two and then the whole rosette dies. But the joy of this plant is that by now the original plant has multiplied into a tight mat of rosettes, all waiting to produce their little flowers after a few years. Hence the name, semper vivem, always living.

We used to have them in our garden when I was growing up so I am pleased to have them in my own garden
