Friendship

No prizes for guessing that this large bowl comes from Africa, but you may be surprised to know that it was painted by my oldest friend Helen. We were friends at school, very many years ago and she now lives in South Africa. When we visited them at the time of the Millennium, this was her Christmas present to me, hand painted with guinea fowl, baobab trees and a zebra.
When Helen first moved to South Africa we seldom corresponded, maybe just a Christmas letter. Then came email and friendship renewed. Now we are in contact even more frequently because we play an online scrabble game which has a chat facility. Brilliant! Today we have been "chatting" while both watching Wimbledon.
