I work for a food manufacturer; we don't produce any products that contain nuts so we have a strict policy about not brining any nut items on site. This policy had been reiterated to us recently and we've all had a letter sent home emphasising the potentially lethal effects of any nut items getting into one of our products. Some of the items on the list were obvious like Snickers bars or peanut brittle, some slightly less obvious such as marzipan or almond milk, but the one that confused me was Worcester Sauce. So, we googled "ingredients in Worcester sauce" and found a web page telling us that walnuts were one of the ingredients.
I put a dash of Lea and Perrins finest into most things that I cook and was horrified that I'd been breaking company rules by taking my own food onto site. But when I got home there was no nut warning on the bottle, so maybe it's just some brands that contain walnuts.
Strange.
