Skywards

The morning involved a trip to the hospital for a follow up X-ray. Because I wore a shirt and not a T-shirt I had to change into one of the fetching hospital gowns. All was conducted efficiently and to time but I have to await confirmation that the infection has cleared via a letter to my GP.

It was a warm and often sunny day so I took advantage of it and began to tackle the weeds which have emerged from nowhere.

Then in the evening I had been invited for dinner at Edinburgh’s Skybar to mark the end of a phase of the children’s hearings system and the start of a new one as the system is restructured to meet the upcoming demands.

Many volunteer roles will remain but a cohort who had managed recruitment, learning and development, the rota, engagement with local organisations, complaints etc - all volunteers - was moving on.


It was great to catch up with former colleagues and friends and to meet new people, all with a commitment to supporting Scotland’s vulnerable children.

Just as Olly Murs could not make it to Glasgow the other day, so could the Shetland rep not make it to Edinburgh which was a shame. He was missed.

So lots of chat and reminiscing and hopes for the future. The setting of the Skybar is sometimes used by politicians for meetings and announcements given the backdrop of the castle and the views over Edinburgh and the River Forth. You can see why. It is spectacular. I took a panorama shot with my phone (attached) which hopefully comes out. The main is obviously of the Castle.
