Edmund Hillary???? NOT!

What a hike!

We didn't intend to go this high (12,080), but we met a ranger who told us about a quicker way to get here, to Granite Pass. (He didn't tell us about the two sizeable snowfields we would have to traverse to get there.)

From here, we're still some 2.8 miles from the top of Long's. Doesn't look that far, does it?

Even if we had wanted to try for the peak today, we couldn't. The trail is still covered with ice the last 1.5 miles. That, and I didn't bring enough peanut butter sammiches.

Can't hike far or well without peanut butter sammiches....
