The Cabbage Trees…..
…….. also known as Cordyline Australis and the Māori name….. te Kouka. These ones are growing on the banks of the Taylor River. I love to see them growing in wide open spaces or amid other indigenous trees. They can be quite messy when growing in an urban garden. They shed their old leaves and lawn mowers hate them. But one saving grace is that the old dried leaves make excellent fire starters.
It has been wonderful seeing the many images of the Aurora Australis that folk have posted on social media. Such beauty in our skies…. thank you for sharing.
