If you can't beat them...

Germander Speedwell ( Veronica chamaedrys )

In the morning into town as Clickychick had an opticians appointment.   Afternoon visiting Kanyl and early evening a meeting.

I grabbed the shot of the Speedwell at Kanyl's.  Speedwell is an excellent source of nectar for pollinators, so it is fortunate that it grows happily on roadside verges in woods, in fact many habitats.  The names Speedwell seems to be based round the bright cheery clumps of flowers seen along a travellers way.  In the 18 century it had the reputation for curing gout (used as a tea).  Making tea from it was so popular that at the time it was almost lost from London.
