The National Portrait Gallery in London is a National Treasure.  It was re-opened in June 2023 after a fairly lengthy closure.  Brilliantly curated, and brilliantly displayed.  We plan to revisit every trip to the UK.  To quote a phrase, we were gobsmacked.  The pictures in one particular room where John Ruskin, William Morris and a few others were displayed - was particularly spectacular.  The extra is Captain Cook.

Anyway, after we left, we - on a whim - thought we'd take a look at St. Martin in the Fields.  Oh, what a treat that was.  There was an open rehearsal of Beethoven's Mass in C - it was so brilliant words fail me.  Any one who knows anything about music will have heard of the legendary Academy of St. Martin in the fields founded by Sir Neville Marriner.  He died in 2016 at the age of 92, but his legacy lives on.  It was so beautiful I was in tears, and even the Rower got emotional.

Next time we are in London we'll try and get to a concert.
