Childhood Wonder

White campion growing in the meadow. This flower, and red campion, remind me of childhood holidays. I recall hedgerow verges filled with them. It felt magical then, just as it does now.

Andy and Merlin had a slow start to the day so after breakfast I made a batch of cranberry and coconut rock cakes. Once we were all ready we did our morning dog walk returning by the village to get a few provisions.

This afternoon I spent a few much needed hours at the allotment. I’d planned to erect a couple wigwam frames for my beans and cucumbers but I got distracted weeding and watering. I’ve been concentrating on the garden at home these past few weeks so there was a considerable amount of growth which needed taming.

Grateful:
- For a gently warm day. Perfect for walking and allotment activity.
- For the field of buttercup flowers opposite the house. Their cheerful golden glow is a joy.
- For a cranberry and coconut rock cake and a mug of tea when I returned from the allotment.
