Washington Wetlands

For about 40 years or so one of us has held a membership for the wildfowl and wetland trust. It has been some time since we visited one of the sites and thought it would be interesting to return to Washington, the last visit was in the late 70's. the area is wonderful with mature trees, beautiful grasses, wild flowers including orchids and yellow rattle, and birds, ducks, geese and voles.

We spent time looking at a number of heronries, avocet with their young and several pair of shell duck and their young. The Chiff Chaff was every where and from a hide we watched the woodpecker, goldfinch, several bullfinch and squirrels.
