Searching for squirrels!

It's the last day of our holiday today and we'll be sad to leave our lovely cottage and the area in general. Mr Sk thought it would be fun to try and see the steam engine Sir Nigel Gresley which was hauling an excursion train up the west coast mainline this morning and back down the Settle to Carlisle line this afternoon, which runs over the Smardale viaduct right at the back of our cottage - see extras.

This morning, after we'd seen the steam engine, we went to the Shap Wells Hotel where we'd been told you could see red squirrels.  We did!  It was a dream come true not only to see these delightful little squirrels but also be lucky enough to get a few shots.  There was another couple there with huge lenses filming them and they scattered hazel nuts on the various stones for the squirrels to eat.  They scampered about, coming quite close at times.
