The Big Dig
This is our last day at the farm until July for hubby and me. Our June days are filled with other commitments. We spent the morning finishing our departure tasks: laundry, cleaning the refrigerators, gathering stuff to take home, etc. My sister simply does not understand the concept of taking a day off. It is her birthday. She weeded and pruned and pruned and weeded. We were able to get rid of all leftovers at lunch: less mess to pack and unpack! After lunch, my sister finally decided to have a bit of fun with the metal detector she’s had for years. She got indications of coins being 4-6 inches below ground. Our BIL followed her with his trowel and mini detector to more closely locate the treasure. All they uncovered were a can lid, spark plug, piece of pottery and chunk of fence link. But she enjoyed the hunt and that’s what is important. Maybe she’ll find better treasures next time. We are making her a steak dinner. We’ve already eaten half of her birthday cake. I have a small gift for her from her Amazon wish list. I am including photos of my grands who received awards at school this week. Mancil was recognized for his photography and graphics design skills, Brooklyn was inducted into the Junior National Honor Society and Parker received the Varsity Lacrosse Sportsmanship award at his banquet last night. Their parents sent me photos. I feel selfish being away from home when they have special events; I always try to be there with them. They each said they understood. Today is Mackenzie’s 16th birthday and also Lauren’s 30th birthday. We are going home early so we can attend their celebrations. Work and school pushed their parties to the weekend. Hope you had a rewarding day. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “Metal detecting is a great hobby. It brings you out of the ordinary, offers you a chance to see some beautiful sights and provides you with a better understanding of your surroundings.” - motivation and love.com
