Variations on a Theme
I have made three tree dishes now, recently sharing a smaller earthenware one here. This is the second stoneware one, using the same main glaze as previously but a new glaze around the rim which has run very pleasingly. There were other pieces to collect from yesterday's firing, all have come out nicely.
A busy day with Ruth started slowly but gained pace. A visit to the local kitchen showroom to discuss some fine tuning for her adapted kitchen coincided with the arrival of workmen who spent the day cutting back the overhanging slabs outside her front door and resetting them all more securely than before. The kitchen discussion led to decisions which should allow a final plan to be put to the funding panel .... when the fun will probably start :-/ The resetting of the slabs has significantly widened the path outside the front door :-)
After a hot lunch we had a visit from a firm who fit replacement doors and windows. Ruth will be replacing her draughty, badly fitting front door. Between this and a mid afternoon hospital appointment, I took Meg for a walk. The appointment was good, the medication prescribed last time has helped with a long running gastric problem. This was only properly diagnosed after Ruth was hospitalised last year with acute salmonella poisoning .... so something good did come out of that distressing problem which was related and has now also been curtailed.
After all this I needed a little snooze before setting off home, Ruth and I having tea together before I eventually left around 7. A traffic and trouble free run home and late birthday presents from the kiln :-)
