Whit Friday

Every Whit Friday, the valleys of Saddleworth are closed down for an extravaganza of brass band competition. Over 11 villages, bands March and play to be the best.

It's also the valley's annual day drinking bonanza.

We split the day between Uppermill and Delph, with a short stop in Dobcross whilst walking from one to the other.

It's a beautiful throwback to times gone by, and we're all the better for it.
