Arrival in Uig
Twelve hours after we left home this morning we arrived at our holiday cottage on the Isle of Lewis. We gave ourselves plenty of time to travel north. This allowed for leisurely stops en route at House of Bruar for a 'biddy' picnic lunch in the car and a hunt for bargain cashmere jumpers in the sale hall (unsuccessful), and then at Ullapool for a wander, a cup of tea, and the best piece of carrot cake that I have ever eaten.
We played two games of Scrabble on the ferry, with a win each. This means that I am now leading the series that we began on our mini-break in Leith last Thursday. It was a very calm crossing and we joined in the excitement with everyone else when dolphins leapt alongside the boat.
I photographed the sunset over the Bhlatos peninsula at 22:30, not long before we reached our final destination.
Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; walking (12,697 steps).
