Fish Lunch!

We had a walk at the local Rising Sun Country Park this morning, and were treated to a view of this heron successfully catching an early lunch. Watching it was interesting as it played with its food for a while (first extra) before eating it. (Best viewed large.)

The second extra shows a pair of swans with a massive number of cygnets: we've counted 13 on this photo but we were told that there were actually 16 (the others may be behind the adults in the photo which was taken from a long way off). Apparently they don't all belong to these adults - they had a fight with another pair of swan parents and stole their cygnets! Such is life in nature I suppose.

We were very lucky with the weather - we had a fair bit of sunshine but 2 minutes after we got back to the car it poured down.
