Beastie on the pear tree

My pear tree has no pears or flowers. . I bought it about 20 years ago. Today I noticed this strange beast on a leaf . Is it a kind of bee having a rest?
Extra is my garden looking very colourful.
It has been quite a sad day as My piano left with a very efficient piano mover who came this morning from Stornaway.  My piano is going to a very nice young couple in Harris. I bought it when my daughter was 7 and had asked if she could have lessons.  It helped both my girls to get music degrees and careers.  our room seems rather empty but we may not have room for it when (if) we move.
