Memorial Day
I decided to go to the Memorial Day observance with hubby. They read the names of all who passed within the last 12 months and are buried in Catholic cemeteries throughout Southern Maryland. There were over 600 in the last year. Among those memorialized was my first cousin Peggy Barickman and my school friend Cheryl Norton. Hubby and some of the other Knights in his Assembly conducted the flag ceremony of hoisting then lowering our flag. A bugler played Taps; we sang our National Anthem. Then the Dean of our area, Father Beaubien, said a Memorial Mass for those lost in war and those buried in local cemeteries this year. The entire event was solemn and beautiful. My sister met us at the nearby Amish greenhouse. I purchased my needed vegetable and flower plants. Kim gave me a gift certificate for Mother’s Day. I got back $.51 in change. What a great gift. My sister and I shared several herb packs and she gave me her extra tomato plants. Hubby and I bought a few groceries and parts to make a new bird feeder like the one our grands gave us. I believe a squirrel jumped on it while we were away and destroyed it. We put everything away. Kim and Brooklyn stopped by to get more of my photo albums. She is making a memory collage for her father’s celebration of life. Hubby and I took a nap after a late lunch. Our day is complete. Hope your weekend went well. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by.
