Across the grass
I had to dodge rain to go out and finish planting the pots today. This is my view from the window as I got ready to greet friends who were coming for dinner.
On my morning perambulation of the garden to check the damage I found a late flowering rose that had all its buds nipped off by a deer so I sighed put a windmill beside it and underplanted it with a Salvia and a chocolate cosmos. I read they don’t like smelly plants but let’s see.
Made a rather good chickpea salad at lunch and then my contribution to supper when David and Nancy came was an asparagus and ricotta dish and a dark chocolate cake with the first of the local strawbs. Very delicious.
It’s been a nice, if somewhat back breaking bank holiday weekend. Back to work tomorrow but only for a few days as we are away at the weekend
