A Tale Of Two Poppies
I had to take my brother to another appointment today so I took the same short drive back to the village of Loose as last Saturday as I had an hour to kill before I had to go back and pick him up.
This time instead of just sitting down straight away on the bench with its panoramic views overlooking the village I took a walk along the Brooks Path, a causeway along the fast flowing Loose Stream that joins the two ends of the village, dividing the mill pond which once fed the local mill. I then turned down a side street and through a gate into Brooks Field, recently awarded village green status to protect it from any future development and which the local community are working to restore to a traditional meadow.
My image was taken at the top of this burgeoning meadow which when I visited was boasting two bright red poppies - so for their lovely pop of colour I used them in the foreground, focusing particularly on the one in the middle of the frame, with a view back across the field to a row of cottages in the background.
After my short walk I still had time to sit and have a quick read of the Saturday papers on the bench with the panoramic view in glorious peace and quiet - or at least I did until it was shattered by someone starting up a very noisy garden strimmer! :-(
Luckily by then it was time to go back and pick my brother up anyway and we still found time to round off our morning with a great coffee and pastry at Kampa Coffee at Loddington Farm Shop before heading home.
