The Bernina Express
Our last full day in Switzerland and, arguably, the best. We took the Bernina Express to Tirano in Italy and back, a long day as each direction takes over four hours. But what a journey! We went from Chur which is at 592 metres above sea level, to a peak of 2253 metres before dropping down to Tirano at 429 metres. In doing so we went from lush meadows with yellow, blue, purple white and red flowers waving in the warm breeze, to cold mountain air with thick snow and frozen lakes, and then down to an almost sub-tropical heat with palm trees! The views were breathtaking and I took masses of photos but we only have an hour to shower and change before dinner so I've picked one fairly randomly for my blip.
Home tomorrow, so we catch a train to Zurich for the flight back. I'll either blip very early from the airport or, as we get home very late, I'll have to back-blip Wednesday on Thursday. Apologies that I've not looked at or commented on other blips while we've been away; there just hasn't been time!
