New baby in the neighborhood

I just checked the project’s email. The other mother of the inspiration of the show talked with her pastor and her church would like to host.

Pretty great day at work today. 

I photographed the newest addition to the neighborhood. I also teased the parents because technically they never even told me they were expecting and then never told me they had a baby. It was a total oversight on their part but tonight I got to officially learn about the child and photograph her and hold her. I’m not used to holding a baby in my right arm, only in my left arm. 

She lets her parents sleep.

For the duration of the war the west has apparently had the goal of not letting Russia win, but not letting Ukraine win either. The concern has been to not escalate things to the point where we also went to war with Russia. Only incrementally have we given better weapons as, over time, Ukraine kept not losing. We keep changing our minds and slowly providing what is asked of us but with the condition that none of it be used outside of Ukraine. All attacks inside Russia have been with Ukrainian-made weapons. European Union defense ministers are debating whether to allow Ukraine to strike targets inside Russian territory with weapons that have been sent by member states. I have no idea what will get Russia to end the war but in none of the other wars Russia has started over the last few decades has the attacked party retaliated within Russia. 


“French President Emmanuel Macron said Ukrainian forces are allowed to use powerful cruise missiles supplied by France to strike inside Russia on the condition the weapons are only used to take out military sites that have fired on Ukraine.” - Wall Street Journal


Belgium just pledged to deliver 30 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by 2028, with the first expected to arrive this year. On the one hand, they are needed right now. On the other hand, these extended dates do surely communicate that Western resolve is not over.
