Barrington Tops
Andrew and I drove to a property in the Barrington Tops today. We were picking up a 4 wheel motor bike that Ross bought. We went through a lot of interesting country. We had coffee at Merriwa and met a delightful couple, the lady being from Bermuda. Through the Hunter Valley, Thoroughbred country. Up through hard, hilly, cold country with dry, dead grass where you wouldn’t want to be a sheep or a cow. Across the Great Dividing Range and into wombat country, echidna country, primitive looking grass tree country on gravel tracks where if you went over the edge they probably would never find you. Then on to open country at the top with lovely big trees and lots of green grass, clover, and brassica. The cattle looked well up there. Roads were being graded and new fencing being done, and our destination five and a half hours from home had a fine new house overlooking a stunning view of mountain ranges.
A good trip home rolling along behind some trucks giving us a lead in the dark and listening to the drivers on the two-way - it was quite companionable.
