20th …. Bonjour from France

Up at 4 and at school by 5:15am.

An earlier ferry meant we had more time on the beach near Calais.  However, the forecast sunshine didn’t appear and it was absolutely freezing.  We eventually made our way to a snail farm where the children were informed, in French, about the life cycle of snails and all what is good about them.  We then sat in a little hut and were served tiny pastry cases filled with different fillings….. and a little nibble of snail too. E.g feta cheese, tomato… and snail.  Yes! I did try them.

From there we headed to our accommodation.  Once it was time for the children to go to bed the five adults positioned themselves along the corridor and sat and waited until they were all settled before disappearing into bed ourselves.
