Whispering Grasses
My wife first mentioned these to me a few days ago when she had taken the dogs on their afternoon walk. These are in a field behind Seafield Pond which has been purposely left to grow wild to encourage wildlife, thanks largely to the efforts of one of our neighbours who is passionate about these things and lobbied the council. My wife talked about the lovely pink grasses.
After a gruelling afternoon watching Murray win his Wimbledon final, I felt totally spent so I was not in the mood to produce a wonderful blip. Seeing the grasses set me wondering how I could capture them in an image. I took a number of shots but found it difficult to find a decent foreground and yet I did not want a too interesting foreground as it would detract from the grasses which were my main focus.
I also managed to get a few decent shots of a swallow flying along the river and casting a shadow in the water but in the end these are inevitably rather small in the frame so I have just included one of these in my portfolio. HERE
When I got home I found I could add interest to the images of the grasses by introducing areas of shadow and highlight and hopefully my blip is not in the end just a blur of grasses but has more shape and composition. Definitely worth seeing LARGE just to see the detail of the grasses.
