Rock pooling at split rock

One of our favourite walks in Uig is to the split rock. Blipfoto tells me that I have completed this with Mr hazelh three times before. This was on:

14th August 2020
23rd May 2016 with walkingMarj
11th August 2015

For Mr hazelh, today's trek was his fifth. This is because he did it on his own on 16th July 2014 when I had a day out at the sheep dog trials with Richard.

Today we set off for the rock after lunch at the community café with Richard and Jo (where we also saw Jessie). Along the way we saw/heard numerous birds, and with the help of the Merlin app identified a couple that we would not have managed on our own. These included greenshank and red throated divers. The seal count was a bit disappointing at the cliffs. There was only one: a whopper 'ocean going' specimen.

My blip is of the geometric rock pool just beneath the split rock. In the extra is Mr hazelh at the rock itself. I asked him to pose very, very quickly - just in case the 20 tonne upper section decided that today was the day that it would tumble off its perch!

We didn't get back to the cottage until around 18:15 so we played Scrabble* and ate a little later than usual. Then, after one episode of downloaded Rebus, it was time for bed.

*Series so far: Hazelh 4 - Mr hazelh 3.

Exercise today: walking (13,874 according to the Garmin, 18,414 according to my iPhone. I don't think that my Garmin records accurately when I am using walking poles).
