Bayeux

Since getting a set of Bayeux tapestry stamps as a child I have wanted to see it in the flesh. Today was the day and it didn’t disappoint!
Then we went to the Battle of Normandy Museum where I realised just how little I knew! Again well worth the visit. As we came out the pavements and side roads were being cordoned off so we asked what was happening. Turns out the Olympic flame torch bearers were coming through.

An amazing atmosphere in the town - which is beautiful - especially the stained glass of the cathedral- so after a good look around we sat in a street cafe for a rest of the legs. Turns out it was exactly where two of the bearers were passing the flame on to each other.

One thing ticked off my bucket list after a 50+ year wait, and a totally unplanned participation in a joyous parade and celebration of the Olympics.
