O Clematis!

We took the day off, again. Just not up to going out to play in the dirt. A shame as the weather is perfect for being outside. But I was awake until after 1:00 am, texting with Mancil so I am really tired. If you saw my comments on yesterday’s blip, you know he dislocated his right thumb last night at Project Graduation. They had an obstacle course for the grads and he fell off somehow and injured his hand. His dad got out of bed and took him to the emergency room where they put the thumb back in place. I have done that to a little toe and can assure you, everything about it hurts but especially the numbing needle! Right before they started, I sent him your sweet comments and honestly, they calmed him. His hand is very swollen and the flesh was torn at the base of the thumb. His mom took him to an orthopedic specialist today. They put his hand in a cast and referred him to an occupational therapist. The biggest issue is that the thumb can freeze up I guess. Always an adventure living in this family. After breakfast, I caught up my ironing. Hubby delivered tables to Kim for tomorrow’s party and picked up the beans I’ll cook as my contribution. My sister and BIL brought me a garlic chives plant for my herb barrel and yellow cherry tomato plants. They are less acidic than the red ones and will be easier on my reflux. Parker stopped by to borrow string for his weed eater. He has a job to remove English ivy from a grove of trees. He’s highly allergic to poison ivy so fingers crossed he doesn’t find any of that in the clean up. Hubby worked at his computer while I took a nap. It is his turn now. I decided to show off my neighbor’s clematis. There are hundreds of blooms where it winds around their lamp post. The sunshine affected its true deep dark purple color. Dinner is cooked so we’ll have a quiet night (hopefully). Stay safe folks. Thanks for all your thoughtful comments, I shared the later ones with Mancil today. He says “thanks”. Today would have been the kids’ dad’s 78th birthday. They had planned to be together but it did not work out-Jamie was on a business trip. “…O my (neighbor’s) sweet clematis, beautiful purple petals, so fragrant to me, in a vine, beauty hanging to peek. O my sweet clematis, your bloom so short, I want your blooms, to never stop. O my sweet clematis, pretty flower so neat don’t stop your blooming, when I take up your seat, Flower of the orient, you bring joy to my day, when autumn whither your flowers away, Come back to me in spring.” - Richard McClellan
