Weird Flower
Not only does this stalk grow visibly taller every day, it does interesting things that seem worth documenting. Those strange arms growing out of the stalk are actually the flowers/seed pods. The plant also produces pups from its roots, so it's difficult to know where the numerous little plants everywhere came from.
My suspicions of Trump exhaustion were confirmed when we joined all the usual suspects for coffee this morning and the subject never came up. John and I talked about it a little this morning though. Neither of us can believe/understand how half the people in this country can claim they will still vote for him. For whatever it's worth, I think there is a small hard core group of supporters who are anti-government, anti-rule of law and anti-social. They don't read the news, feel disenfranchised and somehow have convinced themselves that electing a man who claims he wants to be a dictator will solve all that. There is another group of politicians who hypocritically/cynically toe the Trump line because they see it as a way to achieve/stay in power. There is a further group, and this is pure speculation/wishful thinking on my part that because of where they live, who their friends are or just a wish not to make their choice public say they will vote for Trump , can't bring themselves to go as far as voting for Biden and probably won't vote at all.
I've spent too much time thinking about this and trying to figure out if there is any way I can change it. I've come to the conclusion that all I can do is cast my vote in November. I doubt if I'll be able to avoid the chaos that he cultivates, and the constant speculation about what is going on in his head, but I will do my best and I will try to make this the last time I comment on it unless there is another 500 point headline in the newspaper.*
I an effort to avoid all the turmoil I resumed my closet cleaning efforts which have morphed beyond the shoes and the sock drawer to the t-shirts, trousers, blouses and jackets. I still have to go through the sweaters al huge number of scarves which I have never mastered draping and tying and which make me look like a neckless wonder, and a positively daunting collection of jewelry which is slowly tarnishing on a rack on the wall. I suspect I won't keep much of it, but what DO I do with it?
But that is for another day. Now it is time to choose a place to sit outside with a glass of chilled white wine, Spike and his Kong. And John if he can rouse himself from his funk over forgetting about his haircut today..
*extra. One for the archives for sure.
