Anticipation
The chooks rushed to the side of their run when they saw me wandering towards them with a big old kale plant dangling from my hand. The excitement and squawking was impressive.
The extra shows what happened next: rapid pecking and one hennyhenhen who wondered if perhaps I had something else specially for her. I didn't.
The girls are still looking fantastic and are each laying an egg a day. There's no sign of any moulting yet, despite it now being official winter. And certainly no sign of a slow down on the egg front. I am delighted. They are the healthiest chooks I've ever had, as well as being the most useful for barters and a few dollars each week.
I am using a couple of their products in tonight's supper pie: capsicum pepper, ricotta and mint. I hope it tastes as good as it smells as it bakes...
It has been warm and windy. Bean and I had an ear- and hair-blown walk this morning; me in a t-shirt, Bean bouncing and twirling as the wind got into her brain (or possibly up her bum).
