GOTCHA DAY
Twelve years ago today I got Tino and Lily ( their previous owner had named them Valentino and Tigerlily but I decided to shorten the names). Tino was 15 months old and Lily was 8 months old. Ive added a collage of photos I took on their first day here. Tino was quite brave straight away but it took Lily a while to settle down. Managed to get a few shots today for my blip. Tino was enjoying the sunshine lounging on the bench in the cat enclosure and later on he was in the bathroom. I " nabbed" Lily indoors in two different beds.
I watched TV for a bit after breakfast catching up on a few programmes. Then I got out into the front garden as the weather was lovely. The front lawn badly needed cutting. Every time Ive had the opportunity recently to cut it it seems to have been raining or had just stopped raining and the grass was too wet to mow.
The grass was still quite wet today as it was very long and the mower would have been useless. I only have my battery cordless one at the moment as Neil still has my more powerful electric one. I remembered I had a strimmer in the garage so I managed to find that. Ive had it ages but never used it. It worked for about 5 mins and then the power " cut out " and the bit that spins flew out ... it came out in 3 pieces. I easily found the part where the wire wraps round and the spring.... but I couldn't find the cover. It must have flew off into the border. I did have a good look but it proved elusive.
So I had to get the shears out and do it by hand. Not easy with the grass being very long and wet at the bottom. I managed to do it all -- very roughly. I think its just about short enough to use the mower now. And if theres no rain before I do it it will have a chance to dry out so should be easier to cut.
