Papa Stour
Walked 20km round the perimeter of this wild island oot in the Atlantic gales. Bonxies, peewits, tirricks, shalders prevalent. And the odd dunter.
It is amazing to think that 382 people once lived here, and now only a handful. There was plenty of evidence of those past residents. Boat nousts, grain mills and field boundaries.
The ferry terminal waiting room offers free satellite (Starlink) wifi. And self-serve tea.
Picture shows the Fogla and Lyra skerries from the cliffs at Stourhund.
