There is significance to the angle at which this photo was taken. Our lawn had in the past few weeks got a mind of its own and gone totally out of control with the rubbish weather that we've had giving it more than enough water to grow impressively. But this afternoon we "hoovered the grass up". While Katie was delighted to be able to space hopper around again, she was not delighted in the slightest that I had "ruined all her pretty flowers" as the daisies fell victim to the mower too.
It was a lovely day today. I'd planned to not do our usual swim as we were going to get the paddling pool sorted, but when she woke up she straight away asked to go "but go in the paddling pool later too please". We spent a bit of time practicing her front crawl and she made amazing progress just in that short time and did 3 full widths - she's been much stronger on her back recently, but it all clicked in to place for her today with the front crawl.
After swimming we headed to church. She went between me and sitting with her friends, before I took her to Sunday school. They had a video story this week and then went out into the field to "re-enact it". I think the leader mainly wanted sunshine time! And funnily enough, there were more teenage helpers there today than I've ever seen in her group. After the service we went for a bit of time on the adventure playground that is in the grounds of church.
We cycled into town to try get a new adapter for our hose pipe to properly fill the pool, and a few last bits before holiday. We had a picnic from M&S in the sunshine, then headed back home. She got straight in to the paddling pool. Despite about an hour of trying different things, nothing worked for making our (cheap and apparently rubbish) hose and adapters work - including running it from next door's outdoor tap. In the end we settled on another 10 buckets of water and I just jumped in and joined her. She was in the water for over 2 hours all in. She then had a further hour in the garden, having an afternoon snack, playing, talking to the rabbits.
I expected her to be tired after the extremely energetic day we'd had. I didnt totally expect her to be so tired she fell asleep in her tea.
