When I was about 5 years old I had my tonsils out.  I took my teddy bear (very similar to this one) into hospital with me.  After the operation, I left hospital minus the tonsils and minus the bear.  It was apparently confiscated for being 'unhygienic'.  There are somethings from childhood that you just don't forget.

I lost my first dog, when I was 9 years old.  My dad had found him - a puppy - as a stray; we asked around but no-one knew where he had come from.  I had some 'boy and his dog'  moments, but then one day he just lay down at the bottom of the garden and didn't get up again.
