Dartmoor
Our last full day with our friends Dave and Lesley and their son Ben. We headed out for a windy walk on the hills of Dartmoor near a town called Moretonhampstead. It was breezy and gave us some great views of the surrounding countryside. The extra is of a very unusual spider web that despite dry and windy conditions seemed to have dew bubbles all over it. When feeling the liquid, Dave told us it seemed a little sticky which would suggest the spider created a special sticky liquid for catching insects.
Having escaped the spider's clutches we went into town and had a very pleasant coffee and also bought some in season asparagus for the dinner I was planning to cook in the evening. On the way out of Salisbury I picked up some grass fed Jacob's ladder beef ribs and tonight braised them in red wine and beef stock with the asparagus and other vegetables. It turned out delicious and we are all relaxing and feeling rather full now. We have to head out again and up to Sutton for the weekend, with a couple more people to visit with apart from family there. Busy but very enjoyable time.
