Back blipping yesterday

A call at 1:15am from the hospital asking me to go in. J’s lung had collapsed due to aspiration (mainly of saliva) caused by his swallowing issues (which are caused by the dementia). The doctor recommended that we remove all active treatment and just keep him as comfortable as possible. His estimation was hours not days.

Various friends and family came, and with the anti secretion medication J seemed comfortable. I popped home for a nap after I had been at the hospital about 12 hours. Then returned for an hour or so in the evening before going home to sleep as J’s not been awake since he came into hospital.

It’s now Thursday morning and I am back on the ward.
