Damming Work

Today’s wander was very close to Blea Tarn house, the scene of a very wet February half term some 35+ years ago.

However this is between said tarn and house, the flood meadow that has been drained by countless generations (unsuccessfully).  The NT are now being industrial sized beavers and damming the small river, to create a wetland and sequester carbon once more on the peatland.

For some time we contemplated the payback from an hours jet fuel in a helicopter moving logs vs. sequestered carbon, however then we got to the pub for lunch!  All was forgotten in favour of goulash and a pint!
