Monk’s House
We started the day with late breakfast by the beach. OH and I have visited a few times and the breakfast overlooking the beach is good. I picked the right thing but unfortunately No.1 chose the wrong thing - too much chorizo?! Washed down with a lukewarm coffee it was probably a 7/10. The sun was out and although a bit windy we nestled down behind the breakwater and snoozed in the sun for an hour. I collected some flat stones after seeing pebble painting on Pinterest.
We set off for Monk’s House and enjoyed a walk around the house and delightful garden promising to google Virginia Woolf when we got back. Small NT place so no tea and cakes but we got the fancying for an ice cream and decided to stop on the way home. Detour via Seaford (remembering day trips while Dad did scuba diving on wrecks when I was young). We spotted a Mr Whippy but it wasn’t what I wanted, then another ice cream hut selling Walls bog standard stuff. Just before giving up we drove right to the end of the beach and there was an answer to prayer - a bright pink ice cream hut called Holy Cow selling the most delicious home made ice cream. I had vanilla and toffee and No.1 mint choc chip and toffee. We were so pleased and thankful we had waited to find the perfect end to the afternoon.
