Almond Aqueduct, Roslyn and Some Poppies
This morning I dropped Marian off at Frances' place and made my way to Roslin Glen Country Park. I walked up to the castle which is a bit like one of those Indian or Mayan monuments taken over by jungle. There is more up stairs but they're working to hold it together.
Further up the hill I got to Roslyn Chapel. In 1805 Sir Walter Scott said, "There are twenty of Roslin's barons bold,
Lie buried within that proud chapelle" but most of us know it better from Dan Brown's 21st century words. I like the fact that you can walk round and there's a gap in the wall with railings where you get a great view of the chapel (see first extra). Frances had tipped me off that the Almond Aqueduct was a good place to go and just as I arrived there a boat was coming across. Fortunately the don't go very fast so i was able to get the shot with time to spare. The boat is run by The Seagull Trust. They're a charitable organisation, wholly run by unpaid volunteers, that provides free barge trips for people with special needs. The boat is pristine and very colourful so that's why it's made it to be my main blip. Equally colourful is the field of poppies we drove past on the way back from Fances' house.
We've just had a good meal in the hotel. There's been a Taylor Swift soundtrack in the hotel all the time we've been here. We had to have a full bottle of cabernet sauvignon to help us get through our meal. Shame really, anyone who's interested in Taylor Swift would have been at Murrayfield, I'd have thought.
We'll be off to York tomorrow on our way home.
