THE WINNER

It's Indy Car weekend at Road America.  The big race was this afternoon and the winner was Australian driver Wil Power, who ended a 34 race winless streak.  He drives the #12 Verizon Dallara-Chevy for Team Penske.  He won the Indianapolis 500 in 2018 and the Indy Car championships in 2014 and 2022.

Taking 2nd place was Josef Newgarden (my favorite driver) 3.2 seconds back.  Taking 3rd place was Scott McLaughlin 8 seconds back.

This is the scene seen from above Victory Lane atop the second story balcony. Another Road America photographer was down there with all the other shooters getting that perspective.  I get to choose where I shoot from....I hate shooting podium appearances because the top three seem to get some joy about spraying post race champaign all over everyone, including the photographers.  Over the years I've spent HOURS cleaning that sticky crap off my gear and I refuse to do it again.
