Hello Copenhagen!
Arrived in Copenhagen and at our destination without mishap. Sophie, our house swapper's mum, was there to meet us. It was on the fourth floor, with no lift! But the apartment, once you get there, is amazing.
We had a wander round the neighbourhood, but I didn't take many photos. We eventually chose a nice restaurant for a meal. And there was no muzak! Charming service. I loved the English translation describing the staff who 'aren't chosen for their intense study of wines and cheeses, but for their good spirit and contagious laughter.'
I must say, I'm having trouble working out the exchange rate, and so know what anything costs, which might be just as well, as I think it's all quite expensive. I'm not allowed to give any change to street musicians or beggars, as I'm not sure just how much each coin is worth. I once handed rather a lot of money to a beggar on a train in Paris, as soon as I arrived, not having a clue how much it was.
We popped into a rather groovy wee pub near the flat. Nina Simone on the soundtrack. We'll go back there.
The things that strike me first about Copenhagen are: lots of bikes, lots of graffiti and lots of tattoos! Didn't see any patisseries on our evening outing, so that real Danish pastry blip will have to wait.
It's GREAT to be able to say 'Tak!' All the time!!
