Still standing

Left Sanday in the morning for the ferry back across to Kirkwall on Mainland Orkney.
A quick shop in Lidl and then on to say lots of old stones.
First stop the Stones of Stenness, and a view out to the Ring of Brodgar. Amazing that these are carefully positioned here some 5000 years ago - and they are still here (despite a few attempts to ‘tidy up’). And then on to Skara Brae for a very cold and windy look over what had once been a very cozy community. Uncovered after a storm, imagine the excitement of finding something so significant.
Found our spot for the night looking out towards the sea and Marwick Head. Would have made a lovely evening walk if it wasn’t blowing a hooley.
