Dublin
Had to get up at 4.15. Good journey. This street is just round the corner from where we’re staying. Seen en route to find coffee and lunch. Got a bus to Phoenix Park, and walked back along the river Liffey, swapping sides at each bridge. Some really grand buildings. And the Guinness factory of course. Pottered around little back streets, then down Grafton Street - with lots of excellent buskers - and into St Stephens Green Park where we found a precious space on a bench - they were mostly full, sat on a bench and watched the birds on the lake. An Italian meal in the evening, and an early night. I was really feeling the missing 3 hours sleep. At 4.15 the hotel fire alarm went off! We were completely disoriented and hopeless at ‘escaping’. Luckily it was soon obvious it was just someone smoking had set it off. Able to sleep again, hooray.
The first extra is St Paul’s church and some Georgian buildings beside the river. The second is two men playing one guitar which sounded fantastic.
