What I've Done

By JohnGravett

That WAS a Great End

Last April, I set out to walk the Wainwright Fells (for a fourth time) for charity. Today we set out to finish that round. We set off from Seathwaite, climbed Seathwaite Fell, then along the corridor route, - a tough, rocky, steep route - to Lingmell, off there, and up to Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, and finally on to Great End (main pic) to complete. We did add Allen Crags on at the end as Deb missed it last month. A walk of 14.5 miles, 4,500 feet of climbing and 39,000 steps. We were blessed with great weather until the last 2 miles - when the rain came in.

But that's it - completed successfully, figures as follows:

214 Wainwrights Climbed
730+ miles walked
185,000 feet of climbing (6.3 x the height of Everest)
1,713,000 steps

The good news:
SO FAR - over £1,000 raised for mountain rescue
£900 raised for Hertfordshire charities - which will go to hospices and small charities.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, and if any Blippers feel up to donating, now my body has a chance to recover, my page is at:

But my biggest thanks goes to the wonderful Debs, who accompanied me on 80% of the walks, supported me, encouraged me and was simply amazing.
THANK YOU
