It's that time of year . . .
. . . .again
I’m sorry to have been such a downer yesterday, but it is no good, even on here, pretending to be cheerful when you are not. Thank you for all your kind words and support. I am feeling a lot better today - a few things have been sorted out and I can feel energy levels returning. I sorted my room out and I have been sewing - so that’s a good sign.
And of course I have been reading, nice to be involved in a book when one doesn’t feel quite right. This is the Women’s Prize for Fiction Shortlist, the winner will be announced on Thursday so I thought I would just get a few words down at this stage. I have read them all and am very happy to have read them. It’s a solid selection - varied in style, content, context, but all good, well-written books. I have enjoyed reading my way through the list - the pile is in order of how I enjoyed them with the one I liked best on the top. It is strange this year, but as it should be, that there is no one book standing out as an obvious winner. Any one of these would be a worthwhile winner, but I think it will be between my top three.
The winner of the Women’s prize for Non-Fiction will also be announced at the same time. I cannot comment on this as I have only read two and am currently reading a third. Of course I would love Thunderclap to win but I don’t think it will.
