Menorca Day 2
It was cloudy this morning. Not just a few clouds, but a complete layer of cloud blocking out the sun. Quite disheartening since we came all this way for the sunshine, and the weather had been consistently sunny for weeks whenever checked.
However, the cloud turned out to be serendipitous as we went on a walk that we wouldn't have attempted in the hot sun. It took around 45 minutes to get to Macarella beach. It was still quite warm walking through the wooded cliff tops so it was a real pleasure to experience the sea breeze at the beach, which seemed to be amplified by the shape of the cove. Orla mentioned it was perfect for evaporating forehead sweat. Towels were laid down, and there was a moment of relaxation before enjoying lunch baguettes.
There was a cafe at the side of the beach "Cafeteria Susy" which was visited primarily for ice creams. A stop at a viewpoint on the way allowed for some drone footage capture.
By the time the we reached the apartment (with another stop at the supermarket for supplies), the sweat had returned. The pool was inviting, and luckily, no one else was there. It was a very cooling swim.
Dinner on the balcony was pasta with a tomato and basil sauce. Dad added olives and sardines. We watched last night’s "Have I Got News For You" while eating. Much fun was had at Rishi Sunak's expense.
The live entertainment at the Minura Hotel was loud enough for the whole resort to hear until 11pm. It was actually quite good, so there were no complaints.
