CROMFORD CANAL
(Backblip) We headed over to Cromford Wharf, part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, and had a beautiful sunny walk along the Cromford Canal. There were plenty of ducklings and goslings near where the refreshment rooms were, Django had a swim in a quiet part of the canal and before we turned back we watched a pair of little grebes busy diving together in the clear water. Then the three keener walkers headed off on a more strenuous route while A2 and I wandered back along the other bank which was busy with bees, butterflies and damselflies, and masses of wild orchids and other flowers. First extra is an orange tip next to an orchid.
When we got back to our cottage we held a surprise party (just the five of us and Django) for R who has a special birthday coming up. Second extra shows her coming into the room we'd prepared for it (fortunately our cottage had a little annexe so we could keep it secret until the last minute). It got quite riotous and very silly!
