Diamonds and Arches

Th Great Barn is the only surviving building from the destruction of Basing House by the Parliamentarians during the Civil War. It was built from over a million bricks and tiles, with a magnificent roof frame of quality oak and gives a rare glimpse of Tudor England. It is one of the largest examples of its kind in England.  It was the at the centre of the attack by the Parliamentary army in 1643, which gave the barn its local nickname of "The Bloody Barn".
