The Earl's Bú
Our last visit on Orkney as we set off to catch the ferry. This is a 12th century church originally part of the estate belonging to the Norse Earl of Orkney. Not much left now but still interesting. Ferry crossing was very calm and smooth - blue sky and blue sea.
Now continuing our journey heading to the west coast of Scotland - very different scenery!
A distant view of a Fairburn Tower from my book of wild ruins, although its derelict state prevented an actual visit.
We are spending the night near the Old Moine House - not much left of it but it would only have been a two up - two down cottage now lacking floor, windows and roof!
As we arrived here, a French couple were planning to leave but got their van stuck in a gully at the edge -John to the rescue with tow rope on our motorhome to pull out the vehicle - one very grateful Frenchman!
