Concert

This afternoon we attended a concert in a nearby church. The Reid Memorial. It is a wonderful building and the organ sounds great. The stained glass windows are impressive - see extra.

The choir is made up of former pupils from St. Margaret’s school. The school is now closed but the choirmaster - who is now 85 - keeps those who wish performing. In the past they have won several singing competitions.

The music was wonderful. A mix of John Rutter to classical to West Side Story and the Sound of Music. No Taylor Swift but a varied and very enjoyable programme. The one downside was that some of us found the chairs uncomfortable after a while.

In the evening we met up with friends for a meal before we gather for our annual get together in September. Many of us were on Coll last year for a wedding: the bride and groom were also present. We went to Tapa in Leith and had another wonderful meal. The octopus was delicately presented - see other photo.

A good day with little work done!
